After a short introduction of the Digital Tachograph System a description is given which data in the mass memory of the Tachograph can be used for an accident analysis. It is pointed out what is necessary for data protection due to the volatility of the data after an accident. The data access is described and also which additional information must be determined and examined at the scene of the accident. The evaluation procedure and the depiction of the results are outlined.
