In the European Union countries over twelve different methods and procedures for the reconstruction of accidents happening at night and visibility analysis are used. It is not possible yet to state to what
degree the methods are comparable, or whether they correlate. Besides, various “time attachments“ are added to the “basic” psycho-physical reaction time. Some suggestions of solving these problems have been proposed as well as issues related to uncertainties in harmonisation terms (standardisation).
