The aim of the EVU 2012 Brasov Zebalaarticle is to present the results of research performed at the Institute of Forensic Research in Kraków on pedestrian motion in road and laboratory conditions. The research covered the determination of pedestrian steady motion depending on age, sex and manner of moving, pedestrian acceleration from stationary position to slow, ordinary and fast walk as well as running and sprinting. The results related to pedestrian steady motion have been compared with those obtained by Strouhal, Kühnel and Hein, and Eberhardt and Himbert, which are widely known in Europe. The results on pedestrian acceleration have been compared with those obtained by Strouhal, Kühnel and Hein. The comparisons justify the use in road accident reconstruction of the results of the latest research. The final part of the article suggests conclusions and remarks addressed to court experts. Particular attention is drawn to the moment when the occurrence of an emergency is apparent to the driver, which should be adopted in the analysis of the possibility of avoiding a collision.
