This paper is an attempt to assess the uncertainty of results of typical defensive manoeuvres modelling.
For this purpose vehicle’s models of various degree of complexity used in reconstruction were discussed. Models of tyre contact with road surface, which affects considerably vehicle’s movement and as the result the effectiveness of carried out manoeuvres, were described in detail.
In the first part of this paper the sources of uncertainty occurring during the process of modelling of the analysed manoeuvres were identified. In the second part the applied models were characterised. The last part compared the real runs of characteristic parameters obtained in road tests with runs generated by means of particular mathematical models. Step input steering test was chosen as the comparing manoeuvre. Parameters obtained on the basis of the received characteristics were evaluated and an attempt to assess the influence of the applied analytical models on the uncertainty of the obtained results was made.
