This paper shows how to perform luminance measurements and to visualise the viewing conditions
for the driver with the help of the HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography. First, the production
of HDR photographs is shown by means of exposure bracketing. Afterwards, different tone-mapping
algorithms are applied. By these methods, the reconstructionist can solve a huge number of problems
which occur with the reconstruction of nighttime accidents. The camera equipment, which is already
available, can be used for this purpose.
